Opaque and Green

The ship was still a puzzle to her even after settling in for a couple weeks. For all the skills she possessed when it came to mapping out the stars she coldn't navigate herself through this confounded ship.

Passing corridor after corridor. She was suddenly stopped by the sight of a large opaque doorway. She cautiously stepped toward the door and peered into the blurring glass and to her astonishment saw fuzzy greens, and other vibrant colors on the other side.

She pressed slightly harder against the door and the air-lock gave way and lifted upward to reveil a green house with many vegetables and a variety of other plants and flowers.

She stepped in and the door closed again behind her.

Immediatley after the door closes, several of the pipes lining the glass dome above begin to periodically shoot out jets of water. Bringing down a light drizzle upon the garden.

"oh..drat.."
she whispered under her breath as she looked up toward the dome ceiling.
It really was amazing, how large the garden was and how high the dome ceiling went, considering they were on a spaceship. Her thought was then interupted by another.

"Who takes care of all these plants?
She asked herself.

Tamara tried covering her head with her arms and began scanning the garden for anything that might provide some temporary protection from the light drizzle now falling all around her.

She quickened her pace through the narrow cement pathways that winded through the garden and took cover underneath a small tree near by to wait until the sprinkler system turned off.

a faint rumbling began to shake the greenhouse and what was a light drizzle started into a down pour.

"Great!" she sighed to herself, now exasperated.
As the rainfall continued to push through the leaves more and more.
She looked around and above her to realize that this was not going to provide any shelter as she had hoped...

"I am going to be soaked through by the end of this...."

She began to make her way back to the entrance, her clothes now almost drenched and her hair now plastered to the sides of her face.

"Good grief! is it really necessary to simulate a whole thunderstorm...?"

She flinched as thunder and lightning cracked over her head and she quickened her pace back to the air-lock.

The Rain increased to a downpour. Cracks of lightning sounded as the bio-system of the greenhouse began its simulation of a thunder storm.

The airlock lights blink red as Tamara reaches the airlock. Indicating a malfunction.

Tamara jerked her head up towards the blinking red light of the air-lock.

"Oh no!" she whined.
immediately she began looking for any trace of manually opening the door. The rain continued to grow heavier.
Looking up at the red light she scowled and pounded hard on the opaque doors

She stopped in mid strike as she began to feel herself about to sneeze.
".....AaaaChUuui!" She groaned as she stifled another sneeze and turning around she leaned against the door to face the garden again, the rain still falling hard around her.

"bloody ship..."

"Oi! Is anyone there!?"

Knight's voice rings over the loud speaker, filling the entire greenhouse. "I know you're there! I can see you on the camera feed!"

Above the opaque glass air lock there is a camera zooming in on the drenched woman.

She had no intention of getting bath when she resumed her exploration of the ship.
She glared up at the speaker that projected the now booming voice of the captain.

"If he knows I'm in here, then why doesn't he bloody send down some help already...?"
she mumbled under her breath.

Sneezing hard once again, she turned around to face the camera.
Arms folded across her chest she answered,

"Ai Captain!" " Could any help be sent to open the door?"
Motioning to the malfunctioned air-lock before her.

A loud thump could be heard over the loud speaker.

"Damn it Tamara! Is that you!? Hang on ill try to open the door on my end! Right now you have to get to the emergency shut off switch at the other end of the greenhouse. If this storm continues! All or plants can die!"

"Tamara! Do you Copy!?"

"Huh?"

That's all Raszsasal could think to say as he stared at the situation before him. He (and half the ship) had heard the hectic dialogue going on between the captain and the English chick locked in the Green Room. Raszsasal had come to see what the problem was, but this was not what he was expecting. Staring through the glass he looked down below at a desperate lady (the English chick he supposed) trying to open a locked door, while being peled by some un-Godly ship generated rain storm. Admist the lightning and thunder was the captain's voice, screaming frantically to her to get out. Whether he anxiety came from the danger posed to the plants or the girl, he couldn't tell. But at that moment, Raszsasal couldn't help but ask himself
"Why the hell is one of our crewmates about to be killed by a computer generated tsunami?"

After pondering this question for a moment, he shrugged his shoulder and ran for the exit on the other side. Though he doubted he would be able to get there on time to do any good.

"Tamara! Answer Me!"

Kaiross ruffles his black hair and leans far back in the cockpit. "Why the hell is this happening to my ship?" He remembered when he first found this ship in deep space. It was always a little buggy, but it was never like this.
"Something is definitely up..." He began to think, but he waved off the thoughts, one of his crew was in danger.

"All available units, the maintenance tunnels at the east side of the greenhouse is vulnerable. Bring some breaching charges. "

"Sir?! can you hear me?"
The captains voice was almost muffled now as the rain continued its down pour and thunder rumbled over head.

"What on earth kind of ship is this?"
she said squinting up into the dome.'

admist all the chaos Tamara was able to pick out the words emergency switch from the loud speaker.
She looked up at the camera again not knowing whether either the loud speaker or security camera was still up and running. If this storm was a malfunction, she couldn't imagine what else may go hay-wire.

Shivering she bolted away from the door and started to make a run for the other side of the green house hoping to reach the emergency switch before the majority of the plants in the green house were drowned.

The rain was relentless and she begn to wonder if this ship had any way of draining all this water.
Looking down at the path as she ran, she caught a glimpse at small grates located in various places on the path. They were overflowing now.

"Blast it all!"
She started to run faster, splashing through the now flooded pathways of the green house.

The bars above the greenhouse began to spark as the glass that revealed deep space began to ripple. All of a sudden, a flash of lightning struck a nearby palm tree and the thunder filled the entire greenhouse. The burning palm tree swayed left, and then right before collapsing into Tamara's path.

(2 minutes before that)

As Raszsasal sprinted down the hallway, he almost missed the Auxillary Control Room sign that flew overhead. Backtracking, he peered into the door's small window, seeing nothing through the heavily tinted glass, he shrugged his shoulders, open the door and walked inside.

Inside was a small control room, crammed full of every kind of switch, dial and nob imaginable. You could tell this was one of those rooms that was only meant for authorized personel.

Alarms were still blaring, and that English Chick probably wasent gonna find a way out by herself.

"Time to get kracken!" Raszsasal said as he ran up to the controls

There were no display screens to show the status of any of the controls, and Raszsasal's only source of feedback from the consoles was a wide variety of gaugues and meters lining the top of the panels. He had no idea what they stood for, only that they there was ALOT of it. Many of the meters and gauges showed high levels of something, while others showed very low levels.

"Ummmm, how about this one..." He turned a small blue nob up a couple of clicks

BA-BOOM BOOM BOOM, BOOM-BOOM-BOOM....

"...or not"

He had never seen 7 continuous lighting strikes in a 4 sec time period, but he didn't wanna wait around for the 8th. Couldn't be good for the environment, or the English Chick.

He tried the next dial, and it did look pretty when the rain started to turn into big white clumps of snow....but he hadn't found the switch to turn off the 30 mile an hour wind, so he knew the girl probably would't like that too much, so he put the switch back the way it was.

"ok, no more dials or nobs, let's try some switches..."

Raszsasal looked quickly, then he noticed the green, covered switch off to the side.

"This looks important, maybe this will turn it all off or something" he wondered to himself

Raszsasal takes the cover off and quickly flicks the switch. For a second nothing happened, and he was about to flick it back when suddenly a voice came over the PA system.

"Initiating wildlife intergration process"

"What!?..." Raszsasal exclaimed

"Wildlife gates now open. All herbivorous and carnivorous life forms have now been introduced into Green House Ecosystem. All unauthorized crew please evacuate area immediatly"

"uh oh...."

Bishop was sitting in his room writing about each universe he encountered and what skill or power he obtained from it. then he hears the sound of thunder.

" what the?!"

he runs out of the room and the sound becomes more clearer.

" Whats going on"

he thinks to himself then it struck him

" THE GREEN HOUSE!"

Bishop ran towards the direction of the noise the he hears on a near by intercom "Wildlife gates now open. All herbivorous and carnivorous life forms have now been introduced into Green House Ecosystem. All unauthorized crew please evacuate area immediately" Bishop almost tripped by the unexpected new s from the intercom.

"WHOS MESSING WITH THE CONTROLS!"

Bishop reached the door that leads to the Greenhouse. he attempted to open the door but it was locked. he looked at the door's controls and clicked the "press for emergency lever" a speaker emerged from the side of the wall and said " voice authorization"

"when did we have this feature!?"

'voice authorization accepted.' the speaker went back into the wall and a lever popped out by the side of the door. bishop grabbed it and used his body wait to pull the lever witch made the door swing ajar.

he pears inside seeing the chaos.

"THE ANIMALS, MY PLANTS!"

Tamara had just about had enough. She barely missed a tree that had fallen in front of her while running down the path.

Several lightning strikes crashed over head as she continued to sprint to the other side of the green house.

The wind inside the green house now was almost ridiculous.
And she was positively astounded by the sudden appearance of snow falling from the dome.

Looking about her as she ran she became seriously worried for the integrity of the green house itself and any damage to important plants or trees that provided food for ships' crew.
"how are these plants going to survive all of this..?”

She reached the edge of the greenhouse and began to scour the walls for any signs of the emergency switch the captain had mentioned.

“AHA!”

In big letters she read the sign “Emergency Control Switch”
She reached over opened the glass case and yanked down the lever.
Instantaneously the rain and snow stopped and every light went out.
Tamara could hear the computer’s automated voice over the speakers.

“Core Power Disabled”
“Security Terminated”
“Switching to back up power”

The back up lighting came to a faint glow and the moment they came on tamara bolted back through the greenhouse to the main entrance.

Up ahead she saw the front entrance cracked open and sprinted harder.

The final cackling of thunder rang throughout the dome like ceiling of the greenhouse, and the downpour slowed to a drizzle. Steel latches open up around the greenhouse floor, and drain most of the water. The animals are the only thing that needs to be worried about now.

Sprinting through the greenhouse Tamara reached the front entrance and slid through the door that had been cracked open. Turning around she caught glimpses and sounds through he opened crack of the animals and birds that had been let loose on the other side. With a heave she closed the doors manually to keep the animals inside.
And turning she leaned against the door taking in ragged breathes of air as she relished the opportunity to rest from the whole chaotic ordeal.

She looked back down the hall from where she came and inhaling deeply she pushed herself from the door supporting her and started to slowly make her way back to her quarters, a warm shower and a dry set of clothes.
